The Emir of Jajere in Yobne state, Mai Hamza Ibn Buba Mashio, has asked Fulani parents and community leaders to prioritise education for their children.

The Emir, who is also grand patron of Tabital Pulaaku International (Nigeria chapter), said educated cattle rearers perform better than those without formal knowledge.

He urged Fulani households to stop sending children to the bush to rear animals and instead enrol them in school.

He spoke during a meeting with Fulani leaders in Babbangida, Tarmuwa local government area of the state, to address security concerns and criminal activities affecting livelihoods in the area.

His words: ‘‘Stop sending your kids to the bush to rear animals; send them to schools. No meaningful development will take place in our communities or societies without education.’’

He said global changes demand that the Fulani people acquire knowledge to adapt and progress.

‘‘Education is one of the critical pathways to development, empowerment and integration into Nigeria’s modern socio-economic system,’’ he said.

Mashio also cautioned Fulani youth against drug abuse and other immoral acts.
