The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate has completed the disbursement of ₦3.9bn in arrears to 91,146 eligible retirees under the Defined Benefit Scheme.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Friday, PTAD’s Head of Corporate Communications, Olugbenga Ajayi, explained that the payment formed part of the ₦32,000 pension increase approved by President Bola Tinubu.
According to Ajayi, the arrears were cleared across the Parastatals, Civil Service, Police, Customs, Immigration and Prisons pension departments.
PTAD’s Executive Secretary, Tolulope Odunaiya, reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to settling all outstanding pension obligations and improving retirees’ welfare under the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
PUNCH Online previously reported that PTAD will begin implementing the new pension increases for DBS pensioners in the September 2025 payroll cycle.
The increment package includes a fixed ₦32,000 addition as well as percentage increases of 10.66 per cent and 12.95 per cent for eligible categories, a move expected to benefit about 832,000 pensioners under PTAD’s management.
