10 thugs arrested at APC Rally in Zamfara

The Anti-thuggery Committee set up by Zamfara Government has announced the arrest of 10 suspected political thugs at a political rally in Gusau.

The committee Chairman, Mr Bello Bakyasuwa made the announcement on Thursday in Gusau.

He said that the suspects were arrested during the ‘one million man rally’ organised by the All Progressive Congress (APC) on Wednesday.

The rally was organised to support Gov. Bello Matawalle’s second term bid.

“While monitoring the rally, we arrested 10 suspects for carrying dangerous weapons and destabilising peace and stability. Some of the suspects were arrested for attacking our personnel.

“As I am speaking now, two female personnel injured by the thugs are receiving treatment at Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital, Gusau”, he said.

According to him, an official of Tsafe Local Government is alleged to be among sponsors of the suspects.
“As we all know, we are existing on the Executive Order 2 of Zamfara that gave us mandate to fight any act of political thuggery, drug abuse and other crimes in the state”, he said.

Bakyasuwa appealed to politicians in the state to avoid engaging youths to destabilise the peace in the name of politics.
