Economic hardship: “Avoid anti-Tinubu protests” – Afenifere factional leader begs Yoruba people

Chief Reuben Fasoranti, the leader of a faction of the Pan Yoruba sociopolitical group Afenifere, has appealed to Yoruba people, advising them not to participate in planned protests against the President Bola Tinubu-led federal government.

Fasoranti, in a personal statement, acknowledged the country’s ongoing economic challenges but urged citizens to exercise patience and endurance in the face of the current hardships.

While recognizing the legitimate concerns and frustrations of the people, Fasoranti emphasized the need for Yoruba citizens to refrain from engaging in protests or actions that might escalate tensions.

He urged the populace to trust the government’s commitment to addressing the root causes of economic challenges inherited from previous administrations.

“As a responsible leader, I appeal to every Yoruba man and woman, young and old, and our fellow citizens across the nationalities, to exercise patience and refrain from engaging in protests or actions that may escalate tensions,” Fasoranti stated.

He called for a collective understanding of the larger strategy behind the economic measures implemented by the Tinubu-led administration, expressing confidence that these measures were aimed at restoring economic prosperity and stability.

Attributing the current economic hardships to the removal of fuel subsidies and the floating of the Naira, Fasoranti urged citizens to recognize the significance of these measures in creating a more sustainable economic environment.

He cautioned against preferring a painless approach that could lead to the euthanasic death of the nation, stressing the importance of enduring present challenges for future prosperity.

Fasoranti assured the public that Afenifere was actively engaging with the government to address people’s concerns and urged collective resilience in the face of challenges, expressing confidence that the nation would emerge stronger.

“I implore you to trust in the government’s commitment to the welfare of our nation. Let us engage in constructive dialogue and contribute positively to the ongoing economic reforms.

“Join me in appealing for unity and understanding among our people. Together, we can weather this storm and emerge stronger as a nation.

“I want to assure you, as the Leader of Afenifere, that we are actively engaging with the government at different levels to address the concerns of our people.

“Let us remain steadfast, patient, and united in the face of these challenges, confident that our collective resilience will pave the way for a more prosperous future,” Fasoranti stated.
