The Nigerian Navy has approved the promotion of 127 senior officers to various ranks.
A statement on Thursday by Commodore A Adams-Aliu, spokesperson for the chief of the Nigerian Navy, said 15 Commodores were elevated to Rear Admirals.
Thirty-one Captains were promoted to Commodores. Eighty-one commanders were elevated to the rank of Captain.
The new Rear Admirals are Olumide Fadahunsi, Patrick Meteke, Ponfa Nimmyel, Sulieman Olorundare, Johnson Adewoyin and Cajethan Aniaku.
Others are Anthony Kujoh, Abdulrahman Mohammed, Chinonyerem Oji, Adamu Yahaya, Chindo Yahaya and Aminu Abdullahi. Also promoted are Orakwue Nnatu, Usman Bala and Samuel Ogwu.
The Navy Board also confirmed the elevation of 31 officers to Commodores, including Solomon Ohunenese, Mahmud Fana, Taofiq Gidado, Mahmoud Hammanyero and Aliyu Abdullahi.
Others are Suleiman Muhammed, Abubakar Sani, Mohammed Kolo, Murtala Sulieman and Emmanuel Fingesi.
The list includes Suleiman Abdullahi, Mustapha Abdullahi, Olanrewaju Animasahun, Owens Izilien and Olabode Teniola.
Chris Ali, Kabir Olanrewaju, Uzezi Egweh, Charles Iso and Elisha Bawa were also promoted. Also elevated are Olumide Faneye, Oscar Mbanu, Henry Ejeh, Galadima Ciroma and Osuolale Eyitayo.
Emmanuel Onu, Abubakar Aliyu, Ahmadu Mohammed, Ogbeche Ochagu, Anastasia Ossai and Feyisara Solebo complete the list of newly promoted commodores.
Chief of Naval Staff Idi Abbas congratulated the officers and their families and urged them to rededicate themselves to their responsibilities.
He also asked them to remain loyal to the nation and to President Bola Tinubu.
