Troops of the Nigerian Army troops in partnership with sister agencies have arrested 15 suspected who specialise in supplying arms and logistics to terrorists.
A statement by the Nigerian Army on its X account said the suspects were arrested on August 30, following intelligence reports on their activities.
According to the statement the Nigerian Army troops raided the terrorists’ gunrunners and logistics suppliers in Mararaba Donga and Manya village, located in the Donga and Takum local government areas of Taraba State.
The statement stated that five suspects were arrested and several arms and ammunition including three AK-47 rifles, two fabricated rifles, two single-barrel guns, two Dane guns, one rifle butt, 61 rounds of 7.62 mm (special) ammunition, and eight live cartridges were recovered.
Other items recovered include two extra AK-47 rifle magazines, one pistol holster, one magazine holster, one pair of handcuffs, three daggers, one police helmet, one axe, a point of sale (POS) machine, and ten mobile phones.
Additionally, in Yobe state three logistics suppliers for Boko Haram terrorists were arrested in
Jimbal Village in Tarmuwa Local Government Area while four other were arrested in Rijana village in Chikun LGA of Kaduna state.
In Edo state, another kidnapper who was part of a syndicate terrorising commuters in the Ubia community of Edo state was killed by the troops.
Recoveries including one AK-47 rifle, one semi-automatic pump-action gun, and 18 live cartridges were made from this particular operation, the Army added.
