18-year-old student organises prayer session for Tinubu to retain Shettima as VP in 2027

An 18-year-old student of Al-Qalam University, Katsina, Mohammed Yakubu has organised a prayer session for Kashim Shettima’s retention as Vice Presidential candidate in the 2027 Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Yakubu, a 200-level student of political science said the prayer session lasted for seven days.

The prayer session which ended on Friday, September 5, took place at the Maranta Sheikh Abba Abu, Kofar Kwaya, Katsina.

Featuring mostly younger clerics, Yakubu said the prayer session stemmed from his appreciation for the leadership capability of the vice president.

Recall that there have been insinuations from different quarters that President Tinubu might be dumping Shettima for a new running mate in the 2027 presidential election.

While, this is not confirmed, Yakubu said Shettima is his role model has shown heavy committment to the affairs of Nigeria.

He said, “Shettima has been my role model and seeing how he has helped His Excellency, President Bola Tinubu in running the affairs of our great country, they all deserve our prayers.

“I want to call on our youth to engage in praying for our leaders, especially now that the insecurity is bedevilling some parts of the country. We should desist from saying negative words or cursing them,” the young lad said.

He said that he is motivated by Shettima’s contributions to young Nigerians and farmers across the country.

“Having studied what His Excellency, Vice President Kashim Shettima’s leadership styles especially in building us, the youth and farmers like my father, to thrive, informed my decision to call for Islamic clerics who are mostly youth like me to pray for his success politically.

“I also want to urge government at all levels to redouble their efforts in tackling insecurity,” Yakubu added.
