A Federal High Court sitting in Calabar, Cross River State has ordered two convicted oil thieves – Olufunsho Dayo Chevy and Uwem Udo Nya – to pay a fine of N10 million to the Federal Government account.
The convicts were ordered to pay N5 million each into the coffers of the Federal Government by the court.
They were convicted alongside a vessel, MT New Angel, and a company, Edi Eurolink Distribution.
The conviction secured by the Uyo Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
In a statement issued on Friday, the spokesperson for the EFCC, Dele Oyewale said Chevy and Nya were arrested by the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Victory.
Both convicts were handed over to the anti-graft agency on July 30, 2024.
They, however, pleaded guilty to the charge when arraigned before the court.
They were sentenced by Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu on a one-count charge bordering on unlicensed dealing and stealing petroleum products.
