As the 2023 election gathers steam, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday announced the postponement of its presidential rally in Taraba State.
A statement by James Faleke, Secretary of the party’s Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), sent to POLITICS NIGERIA on Thursday morning, made this known.
The rally had been slated for Friday, January 20, 2023.
Although the reason for the deferment was not officially disclosed, this newspaper understands that the decision was not unconnected with the internal wrangling within the Taraba State chapter of the APC.
“We regret to announce the postponement of the Taraba Rally slated for 20/1/23. A new date will be communicated,” Faleke said.
Recall that the APC governorship candidate in the state, Emmanuel Bwacha, was accused of hijacking funds meant for the presidential rally.
It was alleged that Faleke had a deal wherein Bwacha gave him a kickback of N35 million out of the N200 million released.
There are also allegations that Senator Remi Tinubu, the wife of the APC presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is in support of the act — to the displeasure of Taraba State APC stakeholders.
The rally has been rescheduled to take place on Thursday 26th January, 2023.
