Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the presidential campaign rally of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina State on Monday turned its event to a prayer session over the recent murder of over 40 vigilante members in Bakori Local Government Area (LGA) of the state by bandits.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the event, attended by President Muhammadu Buhari, was conducted in a circumspect atmosphere at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium.
Party chieftains such as the APC Presidential Candidate Bola Tinubu; Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari; and Chairman of Progressive Governors’ Forum and Kebbi State Governor Atiku Bagudu; told attendees that there were debates on whether to postpone the rally outright in view of the mournful atmosphere.
“We decided to go on because some people are already here and it will be disappointing for them to come without getting to see the President and Asiwaju (Tinubu). But we are here to condole with you. We will be back,” Governor Bagudu said.
