2023: APC’s Akeredolu speaks on contesting presidency

Rotimi Akeredolu, the Governor of Ondo State says he has no interest in contesting for Nigeria’s president in 2023.

Akeredolu in a statement on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Richard Olatunde in Akure, the Ondo State capital, distanced himself from promotional activities linking him with the 2023 presidential election.

POLITICS NIGERIA has been sighting campaign poster designs of Akeredolu, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on social media since at least two weeks ago.

The latest poster showed an Akeredolu/Buni joint APC ticket. Mai Mala Buni is the Chairman of the APC Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee and governor of Yobe state.

“Undoubtedly, the development is no less a needless distraction.

“Even though Mr Governor’s constitutional right, qualification, and competencies are not in doubt, this particular campaign does not represent in any manner, his immediate political disposition.

“For emphasis, Governor Akeredolu who has just been re-elected wishes to be left to focus on deepening good governance in Ondo State,” the statement by Olatunde reads.
