The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is reportedly considering making a former governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha, his running mate.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Ihedioha has been favoured among others to be Atiku’s running mate in 2023.
Ihedioha, also a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, was removed from office by a Supreme Court judgement which favoured Hope Uzodimma of the All progressive congress (APC), and has since remained the leader of the PDP in Imo state.
This newspaper learned that Atiku began consultation with the leadership of the PDP shortly after he won the primary election of the party which held in Abuja last Saturday.
Apart from Ihedioha, party sources also said Atiku might choose one of two South-South governors – Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State and Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State.
Atiku, in his previous outing as the candidate of the party at the 2019 election, picked former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, as his running mate.
