As 2023 general election draws near, the camp of the presidential candidate of Nigeria’s main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has narrowed down on one person for consideration as running mate, POLITICS NIGERIA reports.
According to sources, Atiku’s backers are concluding talks on Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa for the position of the vice president.
Barring any last minute-change, Okowa would be unveiled as the running mate of the frontline contender for the 2023 presidency.
This newspaper learned that Atiku is more comfortable with the Delta State governor considering the role he played during the party’s presidential primary two weeks ago.
Meanwhile, the report of a PDP committee, comprising governors, members of the National Working Committee (NWC) and the Board of Trustees (BoT), constituted to search for a suitable running mate is expected to be ready today (Tuesday).
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed June 17 as the deadline for the submission of candidates for the presidential positions.
Whether Okowa or who, it is a waste of time. We shall descend heavily on Old Cargoes. The revolution has started. I promise Obi a minimum of 5,000 votes out of the 7, 890 registered voters in my polling unit as at June, 10th, 2022. Similar gesture will be replicated in not less than 2700 pooling units out of the 2, 947 polling units in Ebonyi State. Mobilization and regular meeting before election day is the best tactics. 200 volunteers shall knock on the door of voters and bring them out to go and vote on election days.
Hi Mr Sam. I like your idea and wish all other Nigerians can be politically active to turn around the country’s future with our votes not bullets.
Fundamental issues with Nigeria has to do with getting rid of the “old timers” and injecting new breed of political leaders in the helm of affairs of the country. No matter how much you believe in one’s tribal/religious and regional emotions they’ve been proved to be negative and immaterial in this twenty first century.
Let’s build and unite Nigeria and defeat the divisive forces of the old order. Don’t give room to any myopic view of some bigots it’s about Nigeria not about me or any individual.
Hey Mr., hold your breath, the planned merger between Obi’s party and Kwakwaso’s may push Mr. Obi to a second fiddle.
Between Obi and Kwakwanzo, who do you think should lead the other? Kwakwanzo is only popular in Kano and maybe Katsina. Obi is a national phenomenal; watch out!
