As the 2023 general election gathers steam, a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal on Thursday said “if there is a cabal, he should be the chief cabal because he is the Chief Adviser to the president.”
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that many Nigerians including the First Lady, Aisha Buhari, have said that there is a cabal of people who influence decisions taken by Muhammadu Buhari and the presidency.
“I don’t know what the cabals means,” Lawal said on Channels Television’s Politics Today.
“It goes without saying. If the Secretary to the Government of the Federation has no influence in the decision-making process, then what is he doing there? They call it the ‘engine room’ of government. So if there is a cabal, he should be the chief cabal because he is the Chief Adviser to the president.”
He added that “when you are talking about the presidency, you are talking about the office of the SGF.”
