A Federal High Court in Abeokuta, Ogun State, has nullified the primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which produced Ladi Adebutu as the party’s governorship candidate in the state for the 2023 general elections.
POLITICS NIGERIA recalls that the Ogun PDP held three parallel primaries with one producing Adebutu as governorship candidate.
The presiding judge, Justice O. O. Oguntoyibo, after his nullification of the election, called for a rerun of the primaries within 14 days.
The court declared that all the primaries conducted by the PDP in the state were not in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Act.
This newspaper reports that in the suit, three members of the party, Taiwo Olabode-Idris, Kehinde Akala, and Ayinde Monsuri had contended that the delegates at the PDP primaries were not democratically elected at the ward, local government, and state congresses.
