Media entrepreneur, Dele Momodu on Tuesday hinted that he may be contesting for Nigeria’s president by 2023.
POLITICS NIGERIA recalls that Momodu said in September 2020 that he will never reconsider contesting the presidency because he does not have the capacity for many things people go through to win such elections. But that seems to have changed.
The 61-year-old who posted a video of a recent political meeting with his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) political associates said Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State called him “Mr President” while some leaders from the opposition, the All Progressives Congress (APC) also hailed him as Nigeria’s next president.
Momodu likened the scenario to 1993 when late Moshood Abiola — “loved across the board” — vied for presidency.
“I was truly stunned when GOVERNOR AMINU WAZIRI TAMBUWAL exclaimed MR PRESIDENT when he saw me in Port Harcourt about two weeks ago… Yesterday in Lagos, some APC leaders also chorused the same song, even when I’m yet to make such a declaration… One of them said “2023 makes 1993 exactly 30 years and June 12 might reincarnate with a candidate loved across party lines like Abiola!” Truly humbled…” Momodu wrote on his verified Facebook page.
