2023 Election: Tinubu, Atiku, may be disqualified – Kperogi [DETAILS]

Media scholar, Farooq Kperogi, on Friday said two top contenders for the 2023 presidential election, Bola Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar, may be disqualified from the race.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Tinubu is the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) while Atiku flies the flag of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Kperogi also said Peter Obi, the presidential flagbearer of the Labour Party may emerge president of Nigeria in 2023. He promised to provide the details on Saturday.

“Peter Obi may become president in 2023 even if he doesn’t win the plurality of votes cast in the presidential election because Tinubu and Atiku, the two top contenders for the presidency, may be disqualified. Wait for details,” Kperogi said via his verified Facebook page.

This newspaper reports that Atiku and Tinubu’s history goes beyond parties. There are hints of business and personal relationships. These two men have been friends, promoting and protecting each other’s interests for years. And they make no secret of it.

Atiku resigned his membership of the PDP in February 2014 to join the newly formed APC.

Since it was impossible to actualise his dream in the PDP, he moved on to the APC where he eventually contested the presidential primaries and lost to Muhammadu Buhari.

After losing the APC primaries to Buhari in 2014, Atiku took a back seat in the party until 2017 when he, in preparation for the 2019 elections, returned to the PDP, his present party.
