A former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, has asked Bola Ahmed Tinubu, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2023 election, to “quit trying to intimidate” Arise Television anchor, Rufai Oseni.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the Tinubu campaign and Arise TV have been involved in a brawl.
This newspaper had reported how Arise TV said two senior presidential campaign officials of the APC asked it to fire Oseni and another top staff they claim are critical of their party.
The Board of Editors of ThisDay/Arise News, in a release on Sunday, accused Bayo Onanuga, the APC Presidential Campaign Council’s director of media and publicity, Dele Alake, its director of strategic communication, of attempting to silence independent media and bully the free press ahead of the 2023 general elections to elicit favourable reporting on their principal.
Ezekwesili condemned the APC’s antics.
I advise @officialABAT the Presidential Candidate of @OfficialAPCNg and his Campaign Team to quit trying to intimidate @ruffydfire of @ARISEtv for his objective analyses as a journalist.
Stop it!
You have the ones singing your praise, so leave Rufai for Citizens.
Be wise.✍🏾✍🏾
