As the 2023 elections draw near, a former Aviation Minister and chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Femi Fani-Kayode on Tuesday named governors Nyesom Wike, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and Seyi Makinde of Rivers, Enugu and Oyo states respectively as “the backbone” of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that according to Fani-Kayode, Wike’s speech on Monday in Obio-Akpor area of Rivers State where he said “something will happen” soon, and that he’ll reveal the identities of the dubious candidate(s) planning to loot Nigeria has been termed by some persons as a jibe to the PDP.
For Fani-Kayode, the apparent crisis in the PDP translates to assured victory for the APC at next year’s presidential poll.
“As PDP is celebrating the defection of Abubakar Shekau (Oops! Sorry, I meant Ibrahim Ibrahim Shekarau) into their party in Kano yesterday (Monday), Nyesome Wike flogged them mercilessly and gave them a death blow in Port Harcourt by saying they wanted to come back “to loot” and “eat the remaining one”.
“The mighty triumvirate of Wike, Ugwuanyi and Makinde, (representing South-South, Southeast and SouthWest) are the backbone of PDP. Without them PDP is NOTHING!” Fani-Kayode wrote on his verified Twitter handle.
“With Wike’s damning speech, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, BAT, our much-loved “City Boy” & Kashim Shettima, the “Golden Boy” of Nigerian politics, are cruising home to victory.
“They should start preparing their acceptance and swearing-in speeches today. Victoria Ascertania! Glory be to God!”
