BREAKING: Bandits kill District Head in fresh attack on Katsina village

Bandits have reportedly killed the traditional ruler of Mazoji village in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State during an attack on the community on Saturday morning.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the attack is coming barely three weeks after bandits killed the district head of Yantumaki in Danmusa local government area of the state, Alhaji Maidabino.

However, it was gathered that the bandits invaded and attacked Mazoji Village around 2am and operated for several hours before killing the traditional leader.

The bandits also reportedly set ablaze five motorcycles during the attack, while they rustled an unspecified number of cows.

According to some of the villagers, security operatives were yet to arrive at the village even as at 7:30am.

Bandits attacks and kidnappings have been on the rise in Katsina State in recent times, leaving many deaths and displacement behind.

Recall that residents of Yantumaki town, Danmusa local government area of Katsina state, protested against the attacks and killings by bandits.

The protesters burnt down a billboard bearing the picture of President Muhammadu Buhari and the logo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the area.

This development is coming a week after Aminu Masari, governor of Katsina, announced that his administration had pulled out of the peace deal with bandits.

The state government had entered a peace agreement with the gunmen. But despite the accord, communities in Katsina are still being attacked and residents killed.

  1. Masari has never been serious about the insecurities of Katsina State let alone to protect its citizens. The fact is right from 2017 when attempt was made to disarm the bandits and get in place an Amensty Program to cater for the ‘ex-bandits’ the Government of the State derailed and engaged in a new agenda of “fantasy”.
Real, functional and strategic issues were abandoned and some rhetorical issues become the new roadmap. There’s no way such will work unless Masari and his Government return to reality.
For the avoidance of doubt the bandits are not spirits they are human and operating within the same environment with the nations security outfits. What makes their operations more “effective and efficient” then the national security systems? There are more to ask.
