2023: Feuding Tinubu, Arise TV owner meet

The proprietor of This Day/Arise News Media Group, Nduka Obaigbena, has reached out to the presidential flag-bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2023 election, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to resolve their conflict.

POLITICS NIGERIA recalls that Obaigbena had accused the APC presidential campaign council of using blackmail to intimidate the media.

In a recent publication, editors of THISDAY/Arise had called on Tinubu to provide a satisfactory answer on the circumstances surrounding the forfeiture of funds to the US government.

The news organisation said the media should not shy away from scrutinising any candidate that is linked to alleged drug trafficking.

They also accused the APC campaign council of “silencing free speech” over unfavourable reports.

But the ruling party’s campaign council replied, alleging that the THISDAY founder owes taxes abroad and doesn’t pay his staff timely. The APC campaign also insisted that the media entrepreneur is intent on embarrassing Tinubu, which they will not allow.

However, a source has disclosed that Obaigbena reached out to Tinubu’s camp to resolve the ‘feud’ between them.

“Obaigbena reached out to resolve his issue with Tinubu.

“They met at the house of former Ogun State Government, Chief Segun Osoba (former governor of Ogun State) to discuss how to de-escalate the problem,” Sahara Reporters quotes a source as saying.

  1. There is nothing to de-escalate. If you seek public office you should do what other seekers do… open up to your sources of income, your health situation and your upbringing. This is the best international practice.

    1. Still another idiotic contribution. BAT or the APC are not afraid of debate or scrutiny, how could Tinubu who has served as a distinguish senator of the federal republic of Nigeria and two terms governor of a state be afraid ? But he would not be railroad to appear before his opponents or those with already bias mind embarrassed or intimidate. Abati is a card carrying PDP member in Abeokuta South of Ogun State, the owner of Arise TV is also PDP member while the other anchor man (Rufia Oseni) is an agent with a bias mind
