Shehu Sani, a former senator representing Kaduna central, on Monday said Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, appears to have withdrawn from the 2023 presidential race.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that although posters and campaign banners of Emefiele surfaced across the country, the CBN boss never declared intention to contest the 2023 presidency. He is also not known to be a card-carrying member of any political party.
More audaciously, on March 26, Emefiele’s ‘supporters’ thronged the national convention of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), beating the drum for his presidential ambition. Some public commentators say the economist tacitly supports the proxy campaign, while lapping up the attention and adulation.
“Godwin seems to silently pulled back from the race…and prefers his monetary policy life,” Sani, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) wrote on his verified Twitter handle
