2023: How Atiku is flouting national agreement – Joe Igbokwe

Joe Igbokwe, the Special Adviser for Drainage and Water Resources to Lagos State Governor, has said Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is ‘flouting national agreement’ by contesting in the 2023 election.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that according to Igbokwe, there was an agreement as far back as 1993 that power must be rotated between the North and the South. And considering the incumbent president is a Northerner, Atiku shouldn’t have aspired for the highest seat in the land.

Igbokwe, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), wrote on his known Facebook page on Tuesday night: “I agree with Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State that AGREEMENT is AGREEMENT. All Nigerians agreed in 1999 after the June 12 1993 tragic crisis that there will be power rotation between North and South until we are measured to respect and honour democracy.

“Based on this understanding, Alhaji ATIKU ABUBAKAR is not supposed to be on the ballot in 2023.

“For us in the South, this is our irreducible minimum demand for the sake of National Unity and for peace to remain in the land.

“ATIKU’S attempt to flout that national agreement is a slap on the faces of 200 million Nigerians and Nigerians will not take it.

“Those who love Nigeria will speak in the fullness of time.”
