A prominently public commentator, Deji Adeyanju, has warned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) against enrolling “people with vested interest” as ad hoc staff.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that INEC on Wednesday announced the launch of the portal for the recruitment of staff for the 2023 general election.
In a statement obtained by this newspaper, the Commission, which oversees elections in Nigeria, said the application will close on November 30.
“The portal will be open to eligible applicants for registration of all categories of ad-hoc staff (SPO/PO/APO/RATECHS/RAC Managers) except the Collation officers,” INEC’s statement read in part.
Cautioning INEC, Adeyanju wrote on his known Twitter handle: “Dear @inecnigeria, Political party members and partisan people supporting politicians or parties should not be allowed to become INEC adhoc staff for the 2023 elections.
“You have a responsibility to ensure people with vested interest do not serve as your ADHOCS. Thanks!”
