2023: ‘It seems APC doesn’t need us’, says aspirant who lost to Buhari

Following his loss in the Oyo North Senatorial primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Shina Peller, a member of the House of Representatives, on Tuesday said that it appears that the party “doesn’t need the people of Oke-Ogun region”.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Peller, who currently represents lseyin/ltesiwaju/Kajola/lwajowa federal constituency, came a distant third with five votes.

Announcing the result on Sunday evening, Ayotunde Olowofoyeku, chairman of the election committee, named Abdulfatai Buhari, the current senator representing Oyo north, winner of the exercise, with a total of 570 votes.

The result for other aspirants was announced as follows: Saheed Yusuf got six votes, Adeboyin Oladokun polled four votes, while Sola Ogunbode had no vote.

Reacting, Peller said via his known Facebook page: “Disregard APC Oyo North Senatorial District purported primary election result.

“It seems APC doesn’t need the people of Oke-Ogun.

“The result of the purported APC Oyo North Senatorial Primaries is quite ridiculous and laughable. Even if you want to cheat, do it smartly…

“General election is in 8 months time. So fingers crossed.”
