A Lagos-based lawyer and popular activist, Dele Farotimi, has challenged Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2023 election, to organise a campaign at the Lekki tollgate in Lagos State.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the Lekki tollgate, situated along the Lekki-Epe expressway, was shut down following the deadly #EndSARS protests of 2020 which saw men of the Nigerian Army open fire on unarmed protesters at the toll plaza.
Following the monthslong closure of the Lekki tollgate, it was reopened earlier this year, although tolling hasn’t commenced.
Activists in the #EndSARS movement like Farotimi pointed fingers at Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State, claiming that he had a stake in the Lekki Concession Company (LCC) which operates the Toll Gate. According to them, the 70-year-old is not pleased that tolling is yet to start at Lekki Tollgate.
