[2023] Meeting of Southwest APC leaders: Dabiri-Erewa condemns exclusion of women

Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, (NiDCOM), on Saturday condemned the non-presence of women at the meeting between leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Southwest region and presidential aspirants, which held in Lagos State on Friday.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the former governor of Ogun State, Olusegun Osoba, and the former governor of Osun State, Bisi Akande, conveyed the meeting.

Those who attended the meeting include former Lagos State governor Bola Tinubu, Vice president Yemi Osinbajo, Ekiti State governor Kayode Fayemi, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, and other presidential aspirants from the southwest in APC.

Others are: the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila; APC governors in the southwest, and several stakeholders.

The conveners of the meeting said it was designed to bring peace to Yoruba land.

“Hmnnn! Meeting of APC Southwest elders/leaders. NOT ONE SINGLE WOMAN! From the whole of the SouthWest Dia is God oooooo,” Dabiri-Erewa reacted via her verified Twitter handle this morning.

Women’s rights activists believe that equal participation of both genders in politics is an important condition for effective democracy and good governance.
