2023: MKO Abiola’s son wins presidential ticket

As the 2023 election approaches, Kola Abiola, eldest son of late Moshood Kashimawo (MKO) Abiola, presumed winner of the June 12, 1993, Presidential Election, has clinched the ticket of his party, the Peoples’ Redemption Party (PRP).

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Abiola contested for the PRP ticket with Dr. Usman Bugaje, a political activist and former member of the House of Representatives; Patience Ndidi Key, former chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO) United States chapter; and Colonel Gboluga Mosugu (retd).

While Abiola garnered 2,097 votes from across the 36 States including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Bugaje came second with 813 votes. Key and Mosugu scored 329 and 263 votes to emerge third and fourth, respectively.

Speaking after his victory, Abiola, 59, promised to “disrupt the political process, to disabuse the minds of the youth on godfatherism”.

He also said the PRP is the only party that could give youths the opportunity to make their numbers count.
