2023: More chaos in PDP as G5 Govs to begin campaigns against Atiku

Barring any twist, the five aggrieved governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) dubbed as G5 would in the days ahead begin campaigns against the party’s presidential candidate for the 2023 election, Atiku Abubakar, in their respective states.

POLITICS NIGERIA the aggrieved PDP chieftains led by Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State include Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Samuel Ortom of Benue, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia, and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu.

Others are Olusegun Mimiko, former governor of Ondo, Ayo Fayose, former governor of Ekiti, Donald Duke, former governor of Cross River, and Bode George, former deputy national chairman.

Sources said the River State governor and his colleagues plan to brand Atiku as a serial defector who cannot be trusted with power by the electorate.

An associate of Ortom, who prefers anonymity, said the five governors “have agreed among themselves to support a presidential candidate from the South.”

Recall that the ‘integrity group’ within the PDP led by the G5 governors has been in disagreement with the leadership of the party and Atiku, insisting that the party’s National Chairman Iyorchia Ayu resigns as he is from the same zone as the presidential candidate.

Their demand is yet to be met.

  1. G5 governors will be daft and lose their political relevance if they support Muslim/Muslim ticket that has been rejected by patriots, moderate Muslims and christians. Obidient movement has them by the jugular. Damned if they don’t.

Wike has made a name for himself and will be well poised to contest again in 2027. He must not go against the people.
