2023: Why Peter Obi stands no chance – Deji Adeyanju

Deji Adeyanju, erstwhile youth leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday said Peter Obi, a former Governor of Anambra State cannot win the party’s primary election.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that according to Adeyanju in a post on his known Twitter handle, Obi, a Vice-Presidential candidate (of the PDP) in the 2019 general elections, cannot even triumph at a national election as a presidential candidate. He attributed his submission to rigging on the part of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“As attractive as Peter Obi’s presidential ambition is and I absolutely love it so much but he does not stand any chance in a PDP primaries or at the general election against the APC. Nigeria is so unfair and Peter Obi knows this. APC does not believe in elections,” Adeyanju wrote.

It would be recalled that Obi said earlier today that he will run for the post of Nigeria’s President in 2023 if his party, the PDP, zones its ticket to the Southern region of the country.

“Yes, I will step into the field to contest for the opportunity to serve this great country as President if my party, the @OfficialPDPNig, zones the ticket to the south. But if it is thrown open, Nigerians will also hear from me,” he said.

Though party primaries that would lead to the emergence of candidates are expected to hold later in the year, permutations, political bickering and serial defections continue as the race for who succeeds Muhammadu Buhari gets intense, while Nigerians wait with bated breath to see who would occupy the exalted office in Aso Rock in 2023.

  1. Peter Obi is very wise to have said that if PDP zones to the South he will run but if it zones to all zones, he will talk to Nigérians. Deji Adeyanju was only reacting to that Peter Obi’s statement, and in his reaction he committed a flaw or fallacy which betrayed his inner mischievous motives. If it is a certain that APC always wins by rigging, one cannot say Peter Obi “has no chance to win” but “will never win”. It is like attaching a probability to a certainty, and this is wrong and it is an unconscious overreaction motivated by latent hatred against Peter Obi by Deji Adeyanju.
