Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo alongside some retired military generals have expressed support for a Southern President in 2023.
OBJ alongside the generals have indicated interest in supporting some candidates for the exalted seat next year.
POLITICS NIGERIA learned that those currently being considered to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari include Former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, President of the African Development Bank, Akinwunmi Adesina and Ex-deputy CBN Governor, Prof. Kingsley Moghalu.
A reliable source close to OBJ, who pleaded anonymity, also disclosed that frontline candidate and former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar’s candidacy has been ruled out. He added that Ex-INEC chairman, Attahiru Jega was being considered for the Vice Presidential Slot.
The source said: “He (Obasanjo) supports power shift to the South. The people he has indicated an interest in general and not specifically are Akinwumi Adesina, Peter Obi and Kingsley Moghalu.
”Then in the North, he likes Attahiru Jega (former INEC chairman) to be the running mate. He is not supporting Atiku at all. He supports power-shift.”
Several individuals have indicated interest in becoming the next president of Nigeria.
So far, Ex-SGF, Anyim Pius Anyim, Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Former Abia Governor, Orji Uzor Kalu, Ex-Lagos Governor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Ex-Imo Governor, Rochas Okorocha and Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal have all declared their intentions to contest.
Whenever the hawks agreed on anything spells doom for Nigeria. Their much-touted preferences are paper weights that cannot and can never win any election in their individual homes let alone their backyard to even begin talking about Nigeria. Kingsley Moghalu.s case comes to mind in the last presidential election.
EVEN THE ASSUMED GODFATHERS CANNOT EITHER. WE ALL KNOW WHERE IBB’s ATTEMPT LED AND THE OTTA BRUTE IS NO DIFFERENT EITHER. INCLUDING DID HIS SUPPORT FOR HIS FORMER VP LANDED? IN THEIR INDIVIDUAL SELF DELUSORY ASSURANCES
They probably believed and assumed wrongly that their military background and experiences translates to the Nigerian political engineering. Events of their participation are living testimonies to wit. Nigerian politicians are better at it TRUST ME.
We need to free this country fróm social evils i.e religion, tribal afflictions, ex generals who looted Nigeria, ex governors who looted the states, ex bank md’s who looted us, ex customs official who stole us dry.
Due to the excess liquidity the above men and women changes things to improve their short sighted nature of our great nation. I think it’s time Bihari address his stewardship so far.
