2023: Okowa attacks Shettima over plan to control security [VIDEO]

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, who is the vice-presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 election, has criticised the plan by Senator Kashim Shettima, vice-presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to control security in Nigeria.

POLITICS NIGERIA recalls that Shettima, one of the panelists at the just-concluded National Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), had said he would oversee security while his principal, Bola Tinubu, will supervise the economy if elected.

According to Okowa, “it’ll be absurd”.

“If the vice-president would take charge of security, is he now going to preside over the Security Council at the federal level? I don’t understand,” Okowa said in a video sighted by this newspaper on Wednesday.

“Because there is a Commander-in-Chief. Is there a reversal position? I do not know.

“He can offer advice. But I find it absurd that he speaks about ‘I will take charge of it’.

“Possibly they’ve agreed that he is going to be the commander-in-chief, I do not know.”
