As the 2023 election draws near, Emmanuel Ogidi, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has said the position of Iyorchia Ayu, national chairman of the main opposition party, is “not threatened at all”.
Ogidi, a former National Vice Chairman of the PDP, South-South, said this in an interview with Arise TV, on Tuesday from his base in Asaba, Delta State. The interview was monitored by POLITICS NIGERIA.
According to the PDP chieftain, Ayu and Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State are only battling “interests” – and not issues.
“His (Ayu) position is not threatened at all,” Ogidi said.
“You see, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), by its name, is democratic. We have our rules and regulation.
“We have always seen this kind of situation. Remember Uche Secondus’ reign too.
“It is not an issue, it is just about interest (s).
“Governor Wike and the other governors with him, they are looking after their interest. But we (PDP elders), we [sic] are looking at the larger interest, which is Nigeria. And I’m sure they’ll come in line.”
