Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State will commence inauguration of some projects on Monday; however, he has reportedly refused to invite key stakeholders in his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that this is as the PDP presidential aspirant in respect of the 2023 election received Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State on Sunday.
Umahi, a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), paid a visit to Wike in Port Harcourt for “a partisan discussion”.
With regard to some projects executed by his administration which official commissioning will start today (Monday), Wike allegedly extended unusual invitations to the leaders of the APC.
While Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, was invited to inaugurate the Orochiri-Worukwo flyover, a former Governor of Sokoto State, would be in the State on Tuesday to inaugurate the Ogbum-Nu-Abali Eastern Bypass dualised road.
Among the invitees are Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, who would inaugurate the House of Assembly quarters on Friday, and Olusegun Mimiko, a former Governor of Ondo State, who would commission dualisation of Azikiwe Illoabuchi Road.
This development is said to have made top members of the PDP apprehensive, as they are bewildered on why Wike is towing the path he chose to.
Wike had last week met with Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the PDP, to iron out their differences.
The face-to-face meeting behind closed doors at the private residence of Prof. Jerry Gana, a member of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT), and pledged to resolve their differences within seven days.
