Ahead of the 2023 election, 19,500 members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Daura senatorial district in Katsina State.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that defectors said they were leaving the APC because of failed campaign promises of the ruling APC.
They said the ‘failure’ of the APC administration in Katsina State is a clear sign of ‘impending’ victory for the PDP.
Receiving the defectors in Baure town on Saturday, the state Chairman of PDP, Salisu Yusuf Majigiri said the 19,500 defectors were from Baure and Zango Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.
“Today (Saturday) we received 19,500 defectors from the APC into our great party, the PDP, and most of them are APC exco members from different political wards in Baure and Zango LGAs. We will work with them to rescue Katsina from APC in 2023,” Majigiri said.
