Ahead of the 2023 general elections, many members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) at the weekend defected to the ruling Party, All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State.

Receiving the decampees on behalf of Salihu Mustapha, the APC Kwara Senatorial candidate, Tunji Buhari saluted them for their decision.
Buhari charged the new members to support Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq in next year’s election “to enjoy more democratic dividends”.
In a piece of related news, scores of PDP and APC members defected to the SDP at Aladeowo street in Karuma, Ilorin last week.
The new SDP members pledged their loyalty to the state’s SDP governorship candidate, Hakeem Lawal. Lawal is the son of late former Kwara State Governor, Mohammed Lawal.
