A former Youth Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Deji Adeyanju, on Monday warned Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), to be wary of individuals looking to hijack the LP.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Adeyanju’s warning comes after Obi, a former Governor of Anambra State, clinched the LP’s presidential ticket for 2023.
He recorded the success at LP’s Convention and presidential primary held in Asaba, Delta State this afternoon.
Earlier at the convention, Professor Pat Utomi stepped down for Obi.
Also, another aspirant, 45-year-old Joseph Faduri stepped down for the former governor.
“Peter Obi should continue to look left and right in that Labour Party. APC and PDP might try to hijack the platform from within,” Adeyanju wrote on his known Twitter handle.
Also reacting to Obi’s emergence as LP’s flagbearer, a presidential aspirant on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Kingsley Moghalu, sent a congratulatory message.
“I congratulate my friend and brother @PeterObi on his emergence as the presidential candidate of the Labour Party. I look forward to meeting him on the presidential campaign terrain on behalf of @ADCNig and, as with other contestants, to a keen debate on the future of our country,” Moghalu wrote on his verified Twitter handle.
