A former governor of Ekiti State, Segun Oni, has said it is a “mere speculation” that the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will join the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the event that he fails to emerge the ruling party’s presidential flagbearer, POLITICS NIGERIA reports.
“Too many speculations! Let me say that we are Social Democratic Party. As far as we are concerned our doors are open to everybody. We are not locking opportunities here. We will wait,” Oni told journalists in Abuja on Wednesday.
“Every process will be taken seriously and without any preference. So, do not speculate too far. We are going to have our convention.”
Tinubu’s role in taking the Southwest into mainstream politics began from the era of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) to the now ruling APC. His experimentation in Lagos State when he was governor, has become a model in other Southwest states of Osun, Oyo, Ekiti, and Ogun, where he played a major role in the elections of the current governors there.
He is also credited with the jinx-breaking effort of ensuring that Muhammadu Buhari became the President of Nigeria in 2015.
