2023 Presidency: Osinbajo absent at Aisha Buhari’s Dinner, avoids Tinubu

Nigeria’s Vice President and 2023 Presidential Aspirant, Yemi Osinbajo was visibly absent at an Iftar dinner organised by the First lady, Aisha Buhari on Saturday night in Aso Rock.

POLITICS NIGERIA learned that other APC presidential aspirants like Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Chris Ngige, Dave Umahi amongst others were all present.

The only aspirant from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP that was present at the dinner was the Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed. Peter Obi, Saraki and Atiku were a ‘no-show’.

Osinbajo instead sent a represent in the Person of Professor Osunbor Oserheimen. The VP and his former political Godfather, Tinubu have not met face to face since the former’s declaration for president, a move many feel was a ‘stab to the back’ of the Ex-lagos governor.

However, reading Osinbajo’s speech/message to fellow aspoirants at the event, Osunbor said; “It is an opportunity for aspirants from various political parties to meet one another and the lesson we should learn from here is to practise politics without bitterness as we move closer to election year.”

“We should try to imbibe the spirit of oneness because at the end of the only one person is going to emerge winner of the Presidential election next year.”

“So, it is not going to be do-or-die affairs, we should learn to practise politics without bitterness.”
