Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party for the 2023 election, on Monday evening explained strategies he will deploy to tackle Nigeria’s lingering security challenges.
Obi, speaking in an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, monitored by POLITICS NIGERIA, said he will ‘make sure that the economy of Nigeria works’.
He also promised to give some sort of independence to states of the federation, vis-a-vis security of lives and properties of citizens.
“To improve the security situation in Nigeria, as President, I will ensure the economic works and more people are pulled out of poverty,” Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, said.
“Also, every state will be responsible for their own security.”
Earlier, in a tweet on Monday, Obi asked his supporters to allow him to respond to any candidate who speaks about him.
“I most sincerely appreciate all my supporters and those of LP. I love you all,” the former Anambra governor tweeted.
“I wish to appeal to you to allow me to personally respond to any candidate that makes comments about me while you concentrate on issues to promote our cause of moving our dear Nigeria from consumption to production, create jobs, and generally evolve a better Nigeria – PO.”
