Deji Adeyanju, a prominent public commentator, has said Bola Tinubu, presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), wants a Muslim-Muslim ticket because “many people in the North don’t see him as a Muslim”.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that according to Adeyanju, Tinubu is “trying to prove to the northerners that they can trust him”, hence his resolution to pick a Muslim running mate in respect of the 2023 election.
“Many people in the North don’t see Tinubu as a Muslim. This is why he is trying to prove to them they can trust him by picking him a Muslim VP. And the real reason he wants to ignore the accepted norm of balancing a joint ticket with a Christian,” Adeyanju wrote on his verified Facebook page recently.
Meanwhile, the Northern Youth Progressive of Nigeria (NYPN) has called on Tinubu to consider Governor Simon Lalong as his running mate.
Addressing newsmen in Birnin-Kebbi on Monday, Secretary of NYPN, Abubakar Dahiru, called on the APC leadership and the presidential candidate to consider a Muslim-Christian ticket in picking a running mate.
According to Dahiru, the association’s position is towards uniting Nigerians.
