As the 2023 general election approaches, Reno Omokri, a former social media aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, on Monday insinuated that supporters of Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party, are ‘IPOB in disguise’.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that outlawed IPOB, the Indigenous People of Biafra, is agitating for the breakaway of southeastern Nigeria. Its leader, Nnamdi Kanu is presently detained by Nigerian authorities.
Omokri seems displeased with Obi’s supporters’ attitude of insulting and threatening dissents.
“You say Obidients are not IPOB in disguise. Okay. What does IPOB do? Is it not insult, threaten, and abuse? What do Obidients do? Is it not insult, threaten, and abuse? Who in his right mind will use photos of my one-year-old daughter to threaten me?” Omokri wrote on his verified Twitter handle.
In a piece of related news, Favour Bassey Otu, a journalist with Silverbird Television, has resigned from her job to support Obi.
Otu said she made the decision to quit her job and support the former Anambra State governor because she is not allowed to be partisan due to the nature of her work.
