2023: Saraki told to beg Kwankwaso not to leave PDP

The Kano State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Shehu Sagagi, has advised erstwhile Governor of Kwara State and 2023 presidential hopeful, Bukola Saraki, to persuade former Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso, not to dump Nigeria’s main opposition party.

Recall POLITICS NIGERIA had reported that Kwankwaso on Thursday confirmed he is set to dump the PDP for the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP). According to him, he would properly announce his next line of action before the end of March. Earlier, he had formed a ‘Third Force’, branded ‘The National Movement’ (TNM)’, which included the likes of Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi of Kaduna State; ex-Minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung; and Alhaji Buba Galadima.

But according to Sagagi, considering Kwankwaso’s “strong political structure,” his exit from the PDP at this period would spell doom for the party.

The Kano PDP chair was speaking recently during the visit of the presidential campaign team of Saraki to Kano.

Meanwhile, uncertainty and confusion have trailed the revelation by Kwankwaso of his plan to dump the PDP at the end of the month with some of his followers saying they will not follow him.
