Ahead of the 2023 general elections, a former member representing Giwa/Birnin Gwari federal constituency, Hassan Adamu Shekarau, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a letter personally signed, addressed to his ward chairman in Kakangi, Birnin Gwari Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna State dated January 3, 2023, and made available to POLITICS NIGERIA on Wednesday morning, the former lawmaker cited personal reasons for leaving the APC.
His resignation notice partly reads: “Extend my sincere appreciation to all members for the support accorded me while in the party.
“Please accept my best wishes as always.
“May God bless you, bless Kaduna State and Nigeria.”
While Shekarau did not state his next destination, sources have told this newspaper that he is joining the main opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Until January 2023 when he officially exited the APC, Shekarau has been a member of the ruling party since at least 2014.
