A former House of Representatives member, Abdulmumin Jibrin, on Thursday asked southwest members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to be ‘politically smart’.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Jibrin, the Director-General (DG) of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Support Groups Management Council (ABATSGMC), advised southwest APC members to end their internal crisis.
According to Jibrin, “southwest should naturally have right of first refusal for the APC Presidential ticket”.
“Our south west APC family, stop these attacks! Where is your political smartness? If not for the fights within you which those against your interest are taking advantage of, south west should naturally have right of first refusal for the APC Presidential ticket! Close your ranks!” Jibrin wrote on his verified Twitter handle.
So far, former Governor of Lagos State and National Leader of the party, Bola Tinubu; Vice-President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, are the two APC members of southwest extraction that have declared intention to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.
Indications have emerged that the APC might conduct its presidential primaries on Saturday, May 24.
