2023: What Tinubu told Wike during meeting in Port Harcourt

Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2023 election has praised Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State for his “commitment” to the unity of Nigeria.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Tinubu and other top APC members on Wednesday met with Governor Wike at the Government House in Port Harcourt. The APC chieftains paid a visit to the Rivers State governor after the ruling party’s presidential rally at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium.

The APC presidential candidate informed Governor Wike, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), that the courtesy call was necessitated by his sheer regard and admiration for his advocacy for justice, equity and fairness.

Tinubu stated that he joined the 2023 presidential race to lead Nigeria on the philosophy which Governor Wike has consistently advocated that power should return to the South.

“Our courtesy call, not to personalise it, is out of the respect I have for you,” Tinubu said.

“You worked hard and you voiced loudly your commitment to unity and the critical part to that unity in Nigeria, you never advocated a division of our country. You followed history. You respect the country.”
