2023: Why Peter Obi, others, risk rejection by Nigerians – Ohanaeze

Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has warned presidential aspirants of southeast extraction in the 2023 presidential election that if they cannot profer solution to the insecurity bedeviling the region, Nigerians will not entrust with them with power.

This caution was contained in a statement made available to POLITICS NIGERIA on Friday by Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the Secretary-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.

Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, Peter Obi, Sam Ohuabunwa, Nwachukwu Anakwenze, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, Senator Godswill Akpabio and Rotimi Amaechi, and Governor Nyesom Wike, are among the southeast and south-south presidential aspirants.

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide expressed resentment over the indifference of the southeast and south/south presidential aspirants towards the insecurity challenges in the southeast. They should be aware of the fact that if they can’t get solutions for the southeast insecurity as soon as possible, Nigerians will not entrust with them, with the opportunity to be a superintendent over the affairs and security of the country in 2023.

“They are advised that unless they show concern over the southeast insecurity and secessionist campaigns and addressed on how to unravel the dilemmas of secessionist campaigns in East, Nigerians will regard them as hypocritical, Janus-faced pushovers and cowards.

“It is apparent that most Igbo presidential aspirants are tactically circumventing issues of southeast insecurity and Biafra agitation in their campaign tours across the country, which has automatically disqualified them in the first place of not being prepared to proffer solutions to the menaces threatening the corporate governance and national unity of the country,” Ohanaeze’s statement reads in part.
