2023: World Igbo Congress makes “irrevocable decision” on Amaechi, Wike presidency

A diaspora-based Nigerian pressure group, the World Igbo Congress (WIC), on Monday said the presidential aspiration of messrs Rotimi Amaechi and Nyesom Wike “is dead on arrival”.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that labelling the two Rivers State sons as “the preferred Fulani caliphate choice option” in the 2023 presidential election, WIC stated that it has made its decision, and will not revoke it.

Amaechi is a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Wike belongs to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“The preferred Fulani caliphate choice option is dead on arrival. We have passed the rubicon,” WIC said on its known Twitter handle.

Meanwhile, whilst the WIC is expressing aversion towards 2023 presidential candidates and the Nigerian general elections, the Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, weekend, drummed support for Amaechi and Wike.

Ohanaeze urged Ndigbo to jettison the artificial separation boundary adjustments created by the military, and reunite with their kinsmen in the Niger-Delta Region, saying that Ohanaeze Ndigbo Constitution, as written by their founding fathers, enshrined that Anioma in Delta and Ikwerre in Rivers State were part of Igbo-speaking states.

The group maintained that Governors Okezie Ikpeazu and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s support for Wike showed they had not abandoned their quest for an Igbo to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.
