A leading contender for the vice presidential slot of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, is yet to congratulate Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Wike was conspicuously absent during the unveiling of his counterpart from Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa, as the vice presidential candidate of the party in the 2023 general elections.
Since the presidential primary election of the PDP in May, Wike had been touted as the presidential running mate to Atiku given the governor’s enormous influence within the party.
In fact, a report claimed the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP favoured Wike. However, Atiku opted against him.
The PDP national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, members of the NWC, Board of Trustees (BoT), and Caucus members, Okowa’s colleagues were present at the unveiling ceremony.
They included governors of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Uguanyi: Bauchi, Bala Mohammed; Awka Ibom, Udom Emmanuel; Edo, Godwin Obaseki, and Benue; Samuel Ortom.
