JUST IN: AFRICOM Reveals Fresh U.S. Support For Nigeria, Delivers Military Supplies

The United States Military has supplied Nigeria with what they described as “critical military equipment,” with the handover conducted in Abuja.
The development was announced in a post on X by the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM), which said the delivery forms part of the long-standing security cooperation between both nations.
AFRICOM stated, “U.S. forces delivered critical military supplies to our Nigerian partners in Abuja.”
The command explained that the support is meant to bolster Nigeria’s ongoing security operations and reaffirm the shared defence partnership between Washington and Abuja.
The post also tagged the U.S. Mission in Nigeria, @USinNigeria, highlighting continued military collaboration at a time when Nigeria faces persistent security threats.
Politics Nigeria recalls that the administration of President Bola Tinubu had urged the United States to deploy its military to assist Nigeria in combating terrorism in parts of the country.
The appeal was made by the President’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, while reacting to the U.S. decision to designate Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern.”
Trump had also claimed that reports of genocide against Christians informed his decision to redesignate Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern.”
He later confirmed that U.S. forces carried out airstrikes on terrorist targets in Sokoto State, in Nigeria’s Northwest region, and are ready to carry out more if Christian persecution is not stopped.
